The development and the realization of nursing care for homeless people, particularly in the centre of Brussels, is the principal goal of ASBL “Infirmiers de Rue”. Our work on the street consists of decentralizing health care and meeting homeless people. We wish to act directly where they are, in their environment, free of charge.

Health is a prime necessity for a minimum of well-being, whether in a rich or precarious environment. According to the definition of the World Health Organization, “health is a state of total physical, mental and social well being, and not only lack of sickness”.

On the streets, we meet people who are often rejected by society, excluded and marginalized because of their different way of life, which often frightens others. This inequality is unacceptable and we need to focus on it.
