Brussels must facilitate access to social housing for homeless people

Access to affordable, durable homes of good quality is key to the abolition of homelessness. In this context, the Brussels government must take structural measures to get people off the street. That’s why Street Nurses, in the run-up to the 2024 elections, advocates the introduction of a quota to facilitate housing access for homeless people.

Therapy dogs prove to be useful at Street Nurses

In 2021 Street Nurses started a project with therapy dogs. Gaëlle, nurse, and her dog Walt visited people rehoused by Street Nurses. Since then, they proved useful, and now we have four dogs as “colleagues”.

Brussels Housing First is growing

In 2013 the first project of Housing First was set up in Brussels, inspired by American projects under that name. Today, almost 10 years later, more than 200 people in our capital city benefitted from this project. Thanks to support teams and their partners in the housing sector, they again found appropriate and affordable homes of their own. Brussels Housing First is growing. More and more new projects are being set up - and, of course, we strive to strengthen this development.

Lack of affordable housing, let's create it!

In June 2021, Anderlecht and Forest were the first municipalities in the Brussels Region to grant a building permit for modular housing projects managed by Infirmiers de rue. Since then, the project in Forest has continued to grow.
