March 2024 was the month when Mr. A.* finally moved into his home. After years of moving between the street and shelters, he finally had a roof over his head. But that day, he held more than just a key, he held hope. And behind that hope, a silent dream: to return to his homeland and see his mother again, after so many years apart.
He had been through a lot, the kind of trials that leave invisible scars. But the man who moved in wasn’t closed or broken. He was open, ready for a new chapter. Quickly, a bond of trust grew between him and the tea. Being vulnerable wasn’t natural for him, but with us, he opened up. He followed his care journey seriously, motivated by that travel project that lit him up from the inside.
Step by step, the team stood by him to build that dream and make it happen. It wasn’t easy: between the paperwork, adapting his treatment, and everyday life, every little step mattered. And every time things got tough, he showed unwavering determination. We shared moments of doubt and joy, always moving toward that goal: his long-awaited trip to Morocco.
Then, in November 2024, the day finally came. He took off, his heart light and emotions running high. He was a transformed man, with stars in his eyes. At every stop along the way, he sent us photos, of himself, of his family, of radiant smiles, of reunions beyond words. You could see the happiness in his eyes. It was more than just success. It was a human victory.
We were proud, super proud of him, and proud to have been part of his journey. Because beyond the admin, the steps, the follow-up, our work is also about living these joyful moments, remembering that sometimes, yes, it really is possible. In a world that often feels grey, it’s those bursts of light that remind us why we do this work.
