"For the future, it is not about predicting it, but about making it possible."
- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
In Brussels, more than 809 people sleep on the streets. Of these, 723 have been living on the streets for over two years (*).
In Liège, over 500 people are without a home. Of these, 117 have been living on the streets for more than two years (**).
Homeless people can only regain their place in society once they have a home again. This vision of the future is realistic, as demonstrated by the daily work of Street Nurses.
That's why, at the end of this year and the beginning of winter, we invite you to join our movement to transform the lives of homeless people. Your support can make all the difference: every donation you make is another brick in the building of a better future.
(* Count conducted on November 8, 2022) (** Count conducted on October 29, 2020)
Donation by donation, let’s build this future together.
Each year, we manage to rehouse around fifteen to twenty of the most vulnerable homeless people in Brussels and Liège. This number might seem small, but the work is a long-term process. The people we support often have been living on the streets for several years and face physical and mental health challenges, as well as administrative hurdles.
Building trust and helping them reintegrate into housing takes time. Furthermore, the scarcity of affordable housing adds to the challenge.
The solution to homelessness: housing
For Street Nurses, there is only one solution to homelessness: decent housing. It is only in a home that people can feel safe, work on their health, and reintegrate socially. Yet, we find that securing enough affordable and suitable housing for our patients remains a major difficulty.
"Rehousing homeless people is essential if we want to truly improve their health and survival and effectively combat poverty and exclusion. Access to decent housing is a crucial lever for achieving sustainable change." Pierre Ryckmans, Medical Coordinator

The impact of your donation
- 200+ homeless people sustainably rehoused
- 50 people supported each year to leave the streets
- 80 people followed up in housing after living on the streets
- A shift in mindset: yes, ending homelessness is possible
A budget to close
Our work involves intensive accompaniment, which requires significant human and financial resources. Although we receive public funding, subsidies only cover 60% of our budget.
To fund the remaining 40%, the support of private foundations, businesses, and individuals like you is more critical than ever.
Thank you to our partners
"The only path offering any hope of a better future for humanity is one of cooperation and partnership."

Smal steps can go a long way
Mr V., in his forties, was very well known in his neighbourhood of Brussels. He had been living in these streets for years, but many local residents and shopkeepers knew him before that, and some had even shared school benches with him. ‘He doesn't want housing. He wants to stay on the streets’, we were told.
We didn't want to believe it.
