Why does this campaign matter?
In Brussels, nearly 1,000 people sleep on the streets today, and more than 9,000 others live in precarious conditions in temporary shelters — a fivefold increase in sixteen years. In Liège, at least 500 people are affected. Overall, homelessness and housing insecurity in Belgium are estimated at around 50,000 people.
Many of them have been living on the streets for years, with no solution.
Yet homelessness is not inevitable. Even for people living on the streets today, a future is possible. And that future starts with a home: we must rehouse them.
To draw attention to this reality and support lasting solutions, the non-profit Infirmiers de rue is launching its new awareness and fundraising campaign today: « We must rehouse them! »
Do you want things to change too? Together, let’s end homelessness!
